Heya! I’m Dukesa! I have been cosplaying for more than 17 years now. I am a mom of two human children, fourteen cats, and three dogs. I love milktea and seafood for me, cosplay is the art of dressing up and role playing as a character from a game, series, anime, book/ comic, in an event with fellow fans of the fandom. A good friend of mine in college introduced me to the concept of cosplaying and then I also saw some students in the next class wearing an anime school uniform and dyed her hair red to look like Hikaru from Magic Knight Rayearth. I was woaah! At the same time, my aunt told me about seing cosplayers on TV. I finally decided to cosplay when I decided to cosplay when I joined the Level Up! Games Ragnarok Online Cosplay contest in 2004. My favorite cosplays are my Disney princess cosplays like Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Rapunzel, and Anna. I dress up as them not only for conventions and photoshoots but also for meet and greet events which is always a wonderful ecperience to be with children and believe in the magic of fairytales. My dream is to complete to cosplay all of the Disney princesses someday. My top five anime are Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, Candy Candy, Chobits, Love Live, and Demon Slayer. My future cosplans are all from Genshin Impact. I have a goal to cosplay at least one character per vision, so there’s that. Oh there’s so many I want to meet! One would be Yaya Han because she makes really amazing costumes, patterns, and even has a fabric collection designs for cosplay! Another one is Alyson Tabithat. Her makeup skills are crazy! It’s always a perfect transformation! It would be great to meet them, hangout, and talk with them about what they do and perhaps, learn from them ways to improve my cosplay work. It is always a proud moment for me to cosplay especially when I have made the costume, crafted my accessories and props, styled my wigs, and did my makeup. I am always happy to share what I can do to everyone and hopefully it inspire them in ways that other cosplayers and artists inspire me too. Those who say cosplaying is only a waste of time and money are definitely not into this kind of craft art so I really don’t have anything to say to them, but perhaps, please know that ALL HOBBIES are never a waste of time and money to those who enjpy it and relieve stress from real life work.
As for those who wants to join the cosplay community and be a Cosplayer, know that the is a very expensive hobby! Although there are always to minimize the cost, you will still spend not just on the costume itself, but also for the events you attend to. SO you have to be prepared for that. And always remember that people have different perspective of what cosplay is and have different standards on what they want to see in a cosplayer. You can’t please everyone with your cosplay. There are people who, no matter how good you do will not like you. However, when you start paying attention and caring for what others think about your cosplay especially the negative comments that’s when cosplay stops being fun. So enjoy cosplaying, be kind always, and inspire others with your cosplay.

Ate Dukesa is one of my favorite cosplayers when I started cosplaying. She is one of the people I look up to especially her skills in cosplaying and continuing her passion til the next generation. As a cosplayer, she is also down to earth and helps a lot of newcomers. Thank you for featuring her. <3
